Get Up and Keep Going!
Living in the Light -- Part 22
John 18
One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, “Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?” Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.  John 18:26-27 NIV
1.  Be aware of your weaknesses
Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus. Because this disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the high priest’s courtyard,  but Peter had to wait outside at the door. The other disciple, who was known to the high priest, came back, spoke to the servant girl on duty there and brought Peter in.  John 18:15-16 NIV
When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.
Gal. 2:11 NIV
2.  Pay attention to the warning signs
Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!  John 13:37-38 NIV
3.  Repent immediately
You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?” she asked Peter. He replied, “I am not.”
John 18:17 NIV
4.  Understand the consequences of sin
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.  Gal. 6:7 NIV
 Accept responsibility
And he went outside and wept bitterly.  Luke 22:62 KJV
 Admit it to God
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9 NIV
 Associate with God’s people
Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb.  John 20:6a NIV
We all stumble in many ways. James 3:2 NIV
