Trusting God

John 14:1 by Dr. Michael Miller

Trusting God

A Distinctive Life—Part 4

Jesus said, “Trust in God; trust also in me.” John 14:1 NIV

What Happens When I Trust Anything More Than God?

* I am disappointed

Those who make idols are disillusioned. Jer. 10:14 GNB

* I am dominated

Before you were followers of the Lord, you were led in all the wrong ways by idols.

                                                                                                1 Cor. 12:2 CEV

Why Don’t I Trust God More?

* I don’t really know Him

Those who know you, Lord, will trust you. Ps. 9:10 GNB

Why Should I Trust God Completely?

  • He always tells the truth

We can completely count on [Him], for it is impossible for God to tell a lie. Heb. 6:18 TLB

  • He loves me

We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him….There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear. 1 Jn. 4:16, 18 NIV

  • He is in control

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Rom. 8:28 NIV

  • He will help me

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Prov. 3:5-6 NIV

Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid. Just trust me.” Mark 5:36 TLB
